Employed at Eidos Montreal, Concept Artist Nivanh Chanthara possesses a unique style, which is maybe more noticeable when he steps away from his 3D concept work and focus on his illustrative art. However, for purposes of this week’s Art of Science Fiction, I concentrate on his 3D concept designs because they are just that awesome.
Nivanh has worked on projects for Media Right Capital, Revision Military, Dreamworks, 20th Century Fox, and Alive and Kicking Inc. for Adult Swim. More notably, perhaps, is the design work he did for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

You can see various influences in Nivanh’s work, from urban dystopia to desolated wastelands, featuring biomechanical lifeforms, cyborgs, and weatherbeaten mech units featuring rough tech that, from appearances at least, were designed to withstand some serious abuse.
