Every now and then I like to surprise you with something different. Today’s artist is one of those surprises. Georgi “Caladar” Simeonov works in London as the Art Director at Unity Technologies. He specializes in concept design, 2D illustration, and 3D modeling and texturing.
Caladar worked on the shooter game, Brink, and contributed art to Star Wars Galaxies, Dungeon Masters Guide II, D&D Divine Power, D&D Open Grave, WarDevil, Rising Kingdoms, Endyval, and a bunch of others.
Below is a small collection of his work. Each image links back to the original gallery. Enjoy!
For some reason, the girl below reminds me of an adult Samantha “Sam” Babylon.
As a comic book reader, I have always been attracted to an illustration style that conveys character with a few key strokes. I see that same ability in Calader’s work. There’s an old-school feeling to his illustrations that I like. You see it in the facial features and posture of the characters and just the way the scenes are conveyed. I love the last one above. It reminds me of my story, “The Carrion Hunter” in Armistice.
Calader’s style is such, I would not mind commissioning him for a cover.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Cheers!
