#Art of Science Fiction 003: John Berkey

John Berkey
was born on August 13, 1932 and was known for his science fiction themed paintings. Berkey is probably best-known for the original poster art he did for the original Star Wars trilogy.

Berkey was honored on March 22, 2007, with “John Berkey Day” by Excelsior, Minnesota. Sadly, he passed away on April 28, 2008.

Below are a few choice samples to showcase the extraordinary talent of this artist. If you click on any of the images it will take you to the site of origin. Enjoy!

Berkey is considered a pioneer of modern space design and you can believe this claim if you look at the detail in his paintings. His legacy continues to inspire future generations. Today’s post is truly a nostalgic journey back to the golden age of science fiction.

A mini-kōsalogy of flash fiction stories

Featuring PK Tyler, Woelf Dietrich, Jessica West, and M. J. Kelley

Their home world is gone, their planet cut from existence. They traveled eons searching for a new home. But their new home, Earth, was already taken. From quiet stories of longing and love to tales of tragic nuclear war and brutal inter-species conflict, these narratives portray sometimes startling snapshots of a new universe with the intensity and delicacy that only flash fiction can convey. Each author's unique stories enrich the shared, singular vision of a science fiction saga that is just beginning.

The following two tabs change content below.

Woelf Dietrich

Woelf Dietrich mostly writes tales of dark fantasy and the supernatural, which is maybe not such a far cry from his lawyering days. Sometimes he writes other things. He resides in New Zealand with his wife and kids and a dog.
